Jewish History Tour

Jewish Amsterdammers have been shaping the city for centuries

The storytelling structure of the tour brought the streets to life. We learnt about 100s of years [of] Jewish life in Amsterdam, which perfectly situated the personal stories in context. We couldn’t recommend Badass Tours enough!

Hear the stories of the Jewish people who shaped Amsterdam but are sometimes overlooked. The horror of the Holocaust has a gravity, which is one reason why the city’s most famous resident is Anne Frank. However, to only speak of World War II is to erase the Jewish Amsterdammers who made the city vibrant. Our unique small-group walking tour through Amsterdam’s historic Jewish neighborhood showcases stories of true grit, dazzling intelligence, and effective activism throughout history. Learn how Amsterdam came to be known as New Jerusalem, and meet some of the individuals who helped create the city you see today.

Something we can’t wait to share:

The story behind this philosophical giant is more complicated than you may have ever heard. How did the community he was born into influence his beliefs? And how did Amsterdam affect his ultimate fate?
