Is this the right tour for you?

See Amsterdam your way, on your schedule, and through your interests. You can choose one, several, or all of our themes: women’s history, Jewish history, LGBT+ history, or BIPOC history. You can also ask for an interest area, such as artistic, academic, leaders, rebels, or warriors. The tour can be up to three hours and customized by pick-up/drop-off location.

Please wear good walking shoes and dress for the weather. In true Dutch fashion, we try to go rain or shine and cold or heat, though we will cancel if the weather looks severe.

Example highlights
This would be some highlights from a route for a group women’s and Jewish stories:
  • Cafe ‘t Mandje and the legend of the woman who opened the first modern gay bar in Amsterdam despite morality laws
  • The Begijnhof and the tale of the Countess who fought for independence for women and merchants, only to see them turn against her
  • Atria Institute on Women’s History and the woman for whom being the first Dutch female university student and doctor was only the beginning
  • The Great Synagogue and the first Jewish MP in Europe
  • The ANDB and the first mixed-gender and interfaith union

Our customized tours feature stories and locations that aren’t on our other tours. Preparing these and crafting a new route involve a significant investment of time. As such, €100 of the cost is not refundable.

For questions, larger groups, longer tours, or a tour with an adaptation, contact us.

Meeting Point

Flexible, based on the tour and your group’s needs
Elyzabeth designed an amazing tour for us in Amsterdam east. Our group was amazed by her vast knowledge, her passionate and engaging personality and of course the inspiring stories about the bad ass women in Amsterdam’s history!
If you want a different spin/perspective on the history of this amazing city, book a tour with Elyzabeth and learn about some little-known women and their impact. She takes great care to learn about the interests of her guests and is well equipped to tailor her commentary accordingly. A wonderful way to spend a few informative hours with a lovely and well-educated guide!
