Daring Women Walk

This storytelling walk explores 17th-century women who refused to be kept down. Discover the artists, businesswomen, fighters, and ordinary women who managed to chart their own way in the face of gender, class, and race restrictions. See a new side to Amsterdam, both its colossal century of change and its modern landmarks’ surprising international connections. We start with a special Rijksmuseum entrance to see their painting of Cornelia van Nijenrode, the subject of Otemba – Daring Women. From there, we walk through the Canal Belt and medieval city to explore places connected with women who leapt over barriers and fought for their hopes.
